Jonathan Lyons, MD

Dr. Lyons is in the private practice of Ophthalmology since 1972 specializing in Retinal Electrophysiology and Diagnosis. He is a Senior Surgeon in the department of Ophthalmology at The Georgetown University/Washington Hospital Center where he teaches Retinal Electrophysiology. He has helped to develop guidelines for the practice of Multifocal Electroretinography as a member of the International Society of Clinical Electrophysiology of Vision (ISCEV). He was also a member of the committee of the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO) which presented a revision of guidelines for screening for Chloroquine and Hydroxychlororquine retinal toxicity. He also serves on the Medical advisory Board of the Motor Vehicle Administration of Maryland where he has helped to shape policy relating to vision requirements for driving. He has been Chief of Ophthalmology at Holy Cross Hospital and a Consultant in Ophthalmology at The US Public Health Service. He has written numerous Journal articles and lectured internationally in his field. Dr. Lyons and his wife live in Chevy Chase, Maryland. He enjoys classical music, tennis, architecture and travel. Dr. Lyons has limited fluency in Spanish.
