Robert P. Friedlaender, MD, MPH, MBA

Dr. Friedlaender recieved his Board Certification from the American Academy of Ophthalmology in 1981. He was raised in Detroit, MI, and graduated high school as Valedictorian. He received a Bachelor of Science Degree (BS) with Highest Distinction, from University of Michigan, at Ann Arbor, where he was also elected to Phi Beta Kappa Honorary Society. He received the degree of Medical Doctor (M.D.) at Wayne State University in Detroit. He served both his Internship Year and Residency in Ophthalmology at Harvard Medical School, Boston. He completed a 2-year long Ophthalmology Fellowship in Cornea and Uveitis, at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF). He received a Master of Business Administration (MBA) with Honors, at the University of South Florida (USF) in Tampa, with emphasis on health care management. He subsequently, moved to the Baltimore-Washington area, where he received a Masters Degree in Public Health (MPH) from Johns Hopkins University, and also began private clinical Ophthalmology practice. He is on the staff of Washington Hospital Center and Sibley Memorial Hospital. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology. He serves on the Finance and Legislative Committees of the Medical Society of the District of Columbia. Dr. Friedlaender lives in Washington, DC with is wife and daughter. He enjoys music, travel and theater.
